Allow me to tell you about their day.

In the magical winter embrace of Cockliffe Country House, Alison and Mark’s wedding unfolded like a carefully crafted novel, with each chapter revealing new surprises and heartwarming moments. Set against the backdrop of Christmas Eve Eve, this celebration marked the union of two souls and the culmination of my wedding photography endeavours for the year.

Dating back to 1678, Cockliffe House is situated in the heart of Nottinghamshire countryside but only 10 minutes’ drive from Nottingham City Centre, the perfect match of tranquillity and accessibility.

Unforgettable Moments

When I first spoke with Alison, the plan was straightforward—a simple coverage of the ceremony. However, as the days approached, the narrative took an unexpected turn. The couple realised they wanted more than just a glimpse of the ceremony; they wanted to capture every part of their special day.
What was intended to be a brief coverage evolved into a full-day spectacle, a testament to their commitment to preserving every precious moment.

As we geared up for the day, the weather forecast painted a grim picture of wind and rain. Yet, as fate would have it, the day greeted us with a dry but chilly winter’s embrace, creating the perfect atmosphere for a cosy celebration with a Christmas vibe and carols under the tree.

Familiar faces

Arriving a little earlier onto the grounds of Cockliffe House, I took a moment to capture the beauty that surrounded us. A delightful surprise awaited as I encountered a familiar face among the ‘unofficial’ bridesmaid—a connection from years past that added an unexpected layer of warmth to the day.

The cast of characters expanded with the entrance of Sharon, the talented makeup artist from Bush-moments. Her perpetual smile and shared understanding of the importance of finishing touches turned mundane preparations into photographic gold. A simple act, like clearing clutter and straightening the bed for a dress reveal, spoke volumes about the collaborative magic that happens behind the scenes.

Christmas theme

The decision to get ready at the venue allowed for impromptu captures, showcasing the camaraderie and anticipation leading up to the main event. The attentive staff at Cockliffe House, led by the ever-efficient Abi, ensured the day flowed seamlessly.

The love story between Alison and Mark unfolded in each smile and shared a glance, making my job as a photographer both effortless and incredibly rewarding. Moments with Alison’s mum became even more precious, prompting us to capture carols under the Christmas tree before she gracefully stepped away.

The Christmas theme added a festive charm, creating a visual tapestry that complemented the season. While the wind thwarted our drone plans, the abundance of timeless photos and cherished moments made it a negligible loss.

A SUPRISE

awaited during dinner—the entrance of singing waiters, transforming the evening into a harmonious family affair. Laughter echoed as the groom’s face mirrored the shock of the unsuspecting guests. Even the behind-the-bar crew couldn’t resist joining the spontaneous celebration.

As dinner unfolded, I took myself away and found a quiet place for the creative process, weaving through photos and crafting a same-day slideshow.  The last time I was here we had a technical glitch so I had everything crossed for this time thankfully it was a thing of the past, and the visual storytelling unfolded seamlessly.

After the speeches Sparkler-lit moments illuminated the night, creating a breathtaking prelude to the cake-cutting and the first dance.
